When it comes to volatile washing machines specifically, know those are actually very rare. And, regular inspections will keep that risk even further at bay. The washing machine example was chosen because it is an appliance that Commercial Service receives a tremendous amount of calls about; this brief article is devoted to washing machine hoses, a crucial part of your appliance.
Water hose maintenance
Periodically, remove the water-in and water-out hoses located in the rear of your machine. Check the hoses for anything that could be obstructing the water from properly running and draining through the hoses. Many machines also have filters near these hoses, so make sure to check and clean them for any debris.
Water hose replacement
No matter what type of hose you have, it should be replaced every 5 to 7 years to avoid dry rot, water leaks, and cracks. The biggest thing to remember when it comes to choosing a water hose replacement is to stay away from the rubber hoses of the past. Rubber hoses can cause thousands of dollars in water damage, as the constant water pressure from the machine causes them to leak and/or burst. In fact, most building codes dictate that water is to be shut off when machines are not in use to ensure water hoses do not break or leak. The only instance water is not shut off is when the hoses are “no-burst” hoses. These no-burst hoses are encased in a woven metal that keeps rubber from being damaged and prevents weak spots that have the potential to be disastrous.
